CCPSA Meeting

August Public Meeting Notice

w/ a Special Hearing on the Proposal for the Office of Gun Violence Reduction

In July, the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability received a petition from Live Free Illinois, requesting a special hearing to discuss their proposal to the Mayor and City Council for establishing the Office of Gun Violence Reduction.

Per ordinance, Chicago residents can petition for the Commission to host a special hearing on a variety of public safety related topics, issues, or concerns. Petitions must be signed by at least 2,000 Chicago residents.

We invite you to join the Commission as we dive into this important topic, learn more about the proposal, and ask critical questions.

Meeting Details:

  • Date: August 14, 2024

  • Time: 6:30pm, with special hearing to follow

  • Location:

  • Virtual Participation: Zoom Registration

If you wish to speak during the virtual public comment period, kindly request to do so by reaching out to Community Commission staff by emailing CommunityCommissionPublicComment@cityofchicago.org.  In the event that we have more interested speakers than the allotted time permits, we will select speakers through a random drawing process.

We also welcome written public comments, which can be submitted in person during the meeting or sent to CommunityCommissionPublicComment@cityofchicago.org
